I'm prejudiced here because the travelers have the same make of Trayon slide-on camper unit as I do. This was therefore a must-read to see how the camper worked out over a year in Africa. It was fine, and the author and her spouse had a great trip up the length of the continent from South Africa to Egypt, before embarking on the next part of their adventure in Europe. There's lots about the people they met on the way, the things they saw and the security situation for comparatively wealthy western travelers in some of the poorer parts of the world. The value of contacting reputable local fixers to assist with visas and advice is made apparent. A good book for anyone contemplating over-landing Africa themselves..Product details

Extremely well written and beautiful photographs.
Not sure what to think of this book. Obviously an epic journey but it does not read like an account of one. It is basically utterly boring. It is hard to comprehend that one has nothing exciting to write about during or after a 300 days road trip.
Great book. Best vehicle travel book ive found . Even like how described other overlanders vehicles they encounted. I highly recommend it.
Carol Jones captures Africa in all her magnificent splendor. I felt I was there. For a person who dreams of such an adventure, do your self a favour and buy this book. You will be inspired!
My husband and I are planning a similar trip and I really appreciated the suggestions and tips. An easy read with a lot of helpful information. Recommend it for anyone traveling to Africa.
I have visited Africa so loved this journey from south to north through so many countries.The pace was great, stories amusing, crossings challenging and images descriptive. If you haven't been, you will learn so much, if you know Africa you will emphasis with this fascinating book. A must read.
Having done some self drive touring in Africa myself, to a lesser extent than Carol and Brian, I found this brilliantly written book brought back some wonderful memories from my own experiences. Anyone who has been, thinking of going, or is just intrigued by Africa will love this book. It Includes some great tips for anyone thinking about a trip to Africa. Also, love the website with the photos, it really ties it all together nicely.
